Expat dating life in china

Online dating nowadays is such a nuisance; can we even call it dating anymore? In my experience, guys don't ask girls out on dates anymore, and it seems like their go-to meet up is some "Netflix and chill" type of scenario. I find myself endlessly swiping left on Tinder, which is where I have come across four types of foreign men. The most common category is the English teacher. Recently, I've noticed a euphemism that guys are now using to describe their occupation. Instead of calling themselves teachers, they now call themselves educators. Ah, the sweet life of the foreign English language teacher on permanent Spring Break in Beijing with no real responsibility except to babysit kindergarteners and teach them ABC songs through charades. Finding a date in Beijing is not especially difficult. If you know where to go, you can have your pick of either wayfaring expats, happy-go-lucky students or young, eager Chinese all on the lookout for potential mates. Beijing, like any other great city of the world, is a mass of people trying to hook up. Trying to find a date on the subway, on the other hand, is not so easy. Beijing's subway system, the oldest in mainland China, is either avoided or, at best, tolerated by expats.

Laowai Life is a new article series from Baopals where we tackle difficult topics that are important and relevant to foreigners living abroad in China. Today we are going to talk about dating in China; more specifically, expats and their Chinese partners. There are over 1. If you've been in China for some time, you've probably learned a lot about Chinese people and their culture.

The 20 Expats You’ll Meet In Beijing

Public loos are great if you prefer to do your business with no doors and several squatting Chinese grannies staring straight at you. For those interested, yes, I did carefully delete his number approximately a second after we said goodbye. I live in Beijing, a city of over 20 million people, with a history that dates back three millennia.
